Report by TX operator, Dave Chippendale:

This year I had to change the site the day before the event, leading to the inevitable errors, for which I apologise, the original site didn’t have enough greenery in its winter condition, this lead to a rather hurried change of plans, in my hurry I misread the distance putting me outside the 4km limit for the approximate bearing and being on an elevated site with (I thought) plenty of wire out I turned down the power of the TX too far so was not heard at the start.

Even with the mishaps Chris P still managed to be on site by the 11 o'clock transmission, but he went for the earthed end of the antenna (located in a rather dense rhody bush). At one point I was expecting a scream to give my position away, as a young lady (with ear to mobile) walked past with her dog.

Remembering that last month the two Chris’s could not see Dave P hiding and this being the Christmas DF, I adorned myself with a festive hat complete with flashing lights, although these did not show up in the photo because of the sunshine.
