GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)

As the web site says, GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages. If you can't get into other editing programs, or if you are too mean to buy them, this may be the thing for you.
